Ok troops, I won an ebay auction last night for a spraygun.

I have a compressor at work so that's me sorted.

Except, that is, for something to spray!!

Whats the equivelent to Stewmacs water based lacquer that I might be able to get mail order in the UK?

I gotta go water based as I'm in a school and the hazchem problems just aren't worth the hassle!! (plus Stewmac wont post anything interesting outside the US anyway)

Thanks in advance!!

Martin, check ot Target Coatings and buy direct. They manufacture the water-based lacquers that StewMac sells as Colortone. They also have some other interesting products such as water based shellac.

Martin,

Those that I know of are using KTM9 and getting it from the US. LMI sells it in quarts - don't know how much the shipping is.

Sorry Martin can't be of any help, I always French polish. But, Dave is right about KTM9 drop LMI an e-mail they'll let you know the cost of shipping, their site doesn't show it as restricted.

KTM 9 is a great finish, I nearly used it myself. Been there, done that with the finish hunt, and I have heard nothing but good stuff about KMT9. Order in a load when you do your next US order.

It looks like the UK have never heard of KTM 9!! There are thin water based finshes available in the DIY stores, I used them on my skirting boards. Not sure how they would work on an instrument. Looks like we are still in the dark ages with regards to what can be done with Urethane and Acrylic

Another great finish I have heard of is Tru-Oil. David Dykes sell it. I don't know if it will convene with health and safety at work if sprayed.

I'm gonna try and master the art of FP this time..Sam Price39049.5473726852
